TUESDAY 17.5.2011: We had finally prepared for our departure and the Leyland Sisters plus poodles were sitting up ready to take off. Ignition key is turned - nothing! Rang Road Assistance our new best friend, on the mobile phone with the low battery. Battery failed half way through the conversation so it was a case of walking with dogs in tow to the nearest shop. Reported the break down and after a couple of hours the first of the tow trucks arrived.
Unable to track down the problem and minor detail - the tow truck was not long enough to tow the motorhome!
It was determined that the motorhome would be towed and we would be returning home by car. Much to Carole's delight the fridge and clothes had to be downloaded - many hours later! The car arrived for the humans and the poodles, but the wait had only just begun for the "big" tow truck. As day became night the tow truck finally arrived and the vehicle was loaded. We exited the Park and arrived home at 7.30pm. "Poodle Palace" went to yet another Mercedes dealer and it was found that the starter motor fuse was the problem.
TRAVEL HINDSIGHT: It may have been worthwhile:
- Not cleaning the motorhome carpet prior to Shayden having a severe gastric episode.
- Ensuring the mobile phone is always charged so that the unnecessary walk is avoided.
From the outset allowing Sybil to travel in the front seat of the car that brought us home. Having delicately placed the poodles on the back seat it was not a good look (due to limited leg room in the back seat), to have Carole literally trying to push Sybil's derrière into the car!
