LESSON IN 'EXTREME' BOAT LAUNCHING |
Organised to spend the day out fishing with Richard, "a local, born & bred in Derby". Richard operates the 'Fish'n'Trips' - Sport Fishing Charters and offers a pick up and drop off to your accommodation. Left the puddles in air conditioned comfort and were driven to a privately owned billabong to swelter the day away in the 30 plus degrees! We trawled up and down the billabong with the grand haul of a catfish, puffer fish and a tarpon. Carole had the first major bite that bowed the line, but of course with any fishing trip there has to be the one that got away. Then Sybil hooked onto not only the biggest fish (at 66 cm), that she has ever caught, but also a prized barramundi. As with anything of note there is an allowed 24 hour gloating period - Sybil used every minute of the allocated time. Having never caught a fish this size one had to be shown how to hold one's catch for the photo opportunity! For some ridiculous reason Chris asked if we wanted to 'catch & release' - haaa, we just looked at him. We had a very hot, but great day with morning tea, lunch and drinks all served whilst we were fishing. The barra provided us with three meals.
