TAMWORTH

SAT 23.01.2016: Exited the Nundle bus in Tamworth and sprinted (this equates to Carole walking quickly ahead of Sybil), to the barriers set up for the street parade - have to ensure a good vantage point! We were enjoying the parade up until the halfway point and then the heavens opened - the spectators all squashed under whatever cover was available.

The Leyland Sisters made the decision to "weather the storm" and remain in place. HEAVY rain ensued and a chap behind us with a child in his arms opens a large umbrella and asked if we would like to share with him. We have come across some very kind and considerate people in our travels and this was yet another example.

The parade finished, we thanked our new found 'saviour' and moved down to the FanZone. We thoroughly enjoy the FanZone because it provides you with the opportunity of seeing new performers that you may not otherwise elect to view. Each performer/group sings 3-4 songs and upcoming concerts or albums are promoted. Due to their FanZone performances there are a number of different acts that we will follow up on. Yes, we took up our reserved roadside seats and Sybil went off to purchase the ponchos, umbrella and tarp. Sat on our tarp, donned the ponchos and squabbled over who would use the children's umbrella should their be heavy rain (only umbrella left)! The days artists included:

Made our way to 'The Pig & Tinder Box' hotel, bought a rather expensive bottle of wine and sat outside listening to 'Innocent Eve'. Have to say though, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Of course we finished our day at the Tudor Hotel - can always find a seat, have a drink and it is the closest venue to our evening bus stop! Leyland Sisters are feeling somewhat fatigued today - have to admire our stamina - NOT!
