PORT HUON - POPULATION: 429

FRIDAY 13.1.2012: Set out from Snug and travelled down the Huon Trail through villages such as Flowerpot, Middleton, Cradoc and Woodstock whilst following the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Huon River. Absolutely picturesque drive today, even had to slow down to allow an echidna to cross the road - made one stop at the Grandvewe Cheese Shop at Birchs Bay. Tasmania’s only Sheep Milk Cheesery, where you can meet “The Girls” (as the sheep are fondly known), taste up to 15 different cheeses and enjoy a wine while viewing the whole process of cheese making and maturing. Next stop the cherry farm - Tasmanian cherries leave the "mainland" for dead, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! In purchasing the motorhome advertisements always presented the lone van by the idyllic backdrop. We soon realised that you could not drive our vehicle into such places or there were always others enjoying the same solitude! Until today - we found t-h-e spot where "the advertising photos" were taken. Port Huon Coast Care Project Rest Area. The solitude, the view - stunning! By morning the bubble had burst and we had four other vehicles on site!
EVEN MADISON
ENJOYED THE VIEW
