BULLARA STATION

OPEN AIR TOILET AND SHOWER -
OF COURSE HOT WATER IS POWERED
BY THE FUEL FIRE
SATURDAY 28 - SUNDAY 29.09.2013: A station stop had always been on the ‘bucket list’ so we chose Bullara Station which is situated 86km south of Exmouth and 60km north of Coral Bay. Bullarra Station is owned and run by the Shallcross family. Tim and Edwina being 3rd generation are currently running the station with their daughters Olivia, Lucy and Mimi - "Mcleods Daughters". Traditionally Bullara was a merino sheep property, running up to 22,000 sheep in its heyday. With the demise of the wool prices the family shifted the focus to Damara meat sheep and Droughtmaster cattle. The station run about 6,000 Damara sheep which originate from South Africa and are suitable for the tough arid climate. With the ban on Live Export over the past 18 months consideration will have to be given to future agriculture. The station accommodation and caravan sites at least provide additional income.
