FRANKSTON - POPULATION: 34,457

STOP 1: SHAYDEN RELAXING!

THURSDAY 8 - SATURDAY 10.12.2011: We prepared for the Tasman crossing as though for a major sports competition! The lead up work was completed at Frankston Discovery Park. Clothes and dogs were washed, van interior cleaned, legs shaved and bags packed! A strategic travel route to St Kilda was plotted with two scheduled stress reliever stops incorporated into what was to be a 45 minute journey. The day dawned - we set sail allowing 4 hours travel time and kept a vigil for trams and low bridges. The final rest stop - the Spirit of Tasmania in full view, visual contact! The boarding of the ship was an experience only enhanced by the rain. We made it although in typical style there was not a question left unasked.
STOP 2: THE S-H-I-P!
Final hurdle - sedating Madison and Shayden. The pills (we thought), were administered and the puddles placed in the cage. We later found Madison's pill in the front cabin and also discovered that many passengers left their animals in the motorhomes because they felt more comfortable. No guesses as to the return trip accommodation! Madison and Shayden both coped with their trip, but spent the next day sleeping and totally ignoring the humans that had forced them to endure such hardship!
