LAKES ENTRANCE CHANNEL
SATURDAY 3 - SUNDAY 4.12.2011: Tourist stop at Lakes Entrance which is situated between Bairnsdale and Orbost at a man-made channel that links Bass Strait and the Tasman Sea with the 400 square kilometre network of inland waterways known as the Gippsland Lakes.
QUICK STOP AT TAMBO MARKETS
Investigated the Freedom Camps at the quaint village of Stratford on Avon, but none were appropriate. Travelled to Sale and experienced our first Showground stay - $17.00 plus power and water! $2.00 afforded an afternoon of entertainment and lunch. "Good Old Country", a group interested in singing and playing country music were having their Christmas gathering. Some 50 people ranging in ages from 60 through to their 80's took turns in making their way to the stage and performing. Whilst skill levels varied considerably and at times the divas emerged, the pleasure each person experienced was immeasurable. The bonus, irrespective of ability, the group respected ALL performers. One unassuming female brought the house down with her humorous recital of Bush Poetry. We called it a concert after three hours, but could still hear music some hours later - enjoyable afternoon.
