ESK, QLD - POPULATION: 1,755

SUNDAY 3.07.2016: Despite administering the medicine it was now day four of the dog's diarrhoea, combined with the odd "throw up"! As always in hindsight one would have to concede the underlying hysterical panic that always accompanies the poodles being unwell. We prepared to leave Nobby, filled the motorhome water tanks, thanked the publican for his hospitality and made the usual ill thought out decision to find a vet on a Sunday in Toowoomba! Of course we have Pet Insurance with the Greencross Vet franchise and yes there are three Greencross establishments in Toowoomba - ALL closed on a Sunday! SO, headed for the Toowoomba Veterinary Hospital (even sounds expensive), and met with Paul Sheedy, a man that very much reminded you of the vets on television. As the dogs were unable to produce a sample there was nothing really concrete that could be determined - came away with copious antibiotics and medicine, plus continued chicken and rice in small doses and as expected the somewhat hefty Sunday consultation bill! Completed our 'chores' in Toowoomba then headed for Esk - finally arrived at 4.00pm, threw the chairs outside and sat down to enjoy a drink and recover from the stress of the day - both emotionally and financially (sorta kinda negated the sales gained from yesterday's market)! The final straw for the day - had not administered any new medicines at this stage, but the poodles had not toileted since the morning and arriving at Esk ran and frolicked in the field like two year olds - they are being advertised for sale on Ebay tomorrow!
