PALMWOODS - POPULATION: 5,492

FIR TREE GROVE
MON 11 - TUES 12.07.2016: The small town of Palmwoods was previously named Merriman Flats in 1881 by the Kuskopfs who were early European settlers in the area. We are headed to Palmwoods to catch up with Ann and Jim Montague - a couple that we first met at Walpole three Christmas' ago. Pulled into the Montague's driveway, a somewhat tight fit for the Poodle Palace driver! Looked to the right and noticed not only a vet, but the five staff members at lunch all with fixed stares directed at the motorhome trying to weave its' way into position - love an audience! Ventured down town and fell into Rick's Garage, a retro décor pub, with a large beer garden. Had a drink the first day and lunch the second - needless to say we loved the atmosphere.

L TO R: CAROLE, SHERYL, WALLY ANN & JIM
Caught up with Sheryl and Wally, also friends we first met at Walpole - great evening.
Not that Sybil is prone to exaggerating a story, BUT, thought we would take a photo to prove that we were actually parked right next door to the local vet. Sunshine impacted the photo, but the building can be seen! The poodles are still not back to 'normal' so why not take advantage - Sybil collects the 'poo' samples in the plastic trays, labelled, with a glad wrap cover. In slippers she walks next door, with samples and medicines that have been administered in hand. Why is it so that when you are standing with 'poo' in hand that other customers enter the building! "No, samples were of no use, have to be sent away and reports would be returned in a week". Sounded a bit like the National Bowel Scheme. Suggested probiotics to settle the gastric juices - Sybil purchased the powder and exited the surgery with samples still in hand!
VET IS TO THE RIGHT OF 'POODLE PALACE'
Having entered the driveway so successfully - NOT, we spent a considerable amount of time on our exit strategy. The street is very narrow and the 'workers' tend to park there during the day. Decided to leave at 7.00am, yes, exceedingly early for us! Have to say though, without Jim's assistance we would still be trying to leave. Had a lovely time and yes, a big thank you to both Ann and Jim for making us feel so welcome.
