NUNDLE

MONDAY 26.1.2015: HAPPY STRALIA DAY! The Nundle Australia Day Celebrations began at 8.00am with a barbecue breakfast at the school yard. Darren Coggen (Singer and Actor), was the Australia Day Ambassador and the program included entertainment, Australia Day Awards, public addresses and of course being at Nundle - the inevitable Trivia Quiz! As the Dumb and Dumber brains trust had been depleted our results proved to be even worse than the Trivia Night!

Yes, there is always a story! We come to the last of the awards and an announcement is made that the person/s that have made the greatest effort to dress for the day will receive a gift. In unison we pointed to our left and to where a lady had been seated dressed in an Australian cap, earrings and t-shirt - she had left! We quickly scanned the venue and realised that we were it and we only had on Australia Day shirts. Carole was sent up to receive the gift and Sybil who had spent the morning taking endless photos just sat and applauded rather than capturing the Kodak moment! Best we can do is take a photo of the gift!

SUNDAY 25.1.2015: Rested, relaxed and by the afternoon we were able to walk up the road to the Peel Inn to listen to Lou Bradley and Phil Chaffer.

Called in at the Atrium to watch David Flower and Caroline Trengrove then caught the bus out to the Lonyard for the Bella concert (Lyn Bowtell, Karen O'Shea and Kate Ballantyne) - have to support our local talent. A superb show which we thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end.

The final entertainment for the day was at the ABCRA National Finals Rodeo at the Australian Equine Livestock & Events Centre. Well may you ask why the rodeo? Have never attended a rodeo before and decided that we would tick it off the list - very well organised and it was a full house, but having seen it once that will probably suffice.

NUNDLE

FRIDAY 23.1.2015: Madison sums up exactly how 'the pack' are feeling today - age shall not weary them, but consecutive trips into Tamworth will! When we finally surfaced we took a stroll up to the Peel Inn and watched Gleny Rae Virus and her Playboys. Must say the performance was tame compared to the band name and promotional material.

CAROLE & THE CASINO NURSES
THURS 22.1.2015: A back to back 6.15am rising proved to be a challenge for both humans and poodles - punch drunk does not even come close! We made the bus and unlike most people that sleep at the end of the day's activities, we nodded off on the journey in. Spent the morning at the markets, collecting our Toyota hats, listening to the JB HiFi entertainment and the local buskers in Peel Street. It had been suggested that we see Murphy's Pigs, a Celtic group performing at the Post Office Hotel. Went early to the hotel as it is a small venue that is always packed - today was no different. Sat through the first act as the venue gradually filled, but we had managed to secure seating. We met two nurses from Casino that had decided on a spur of the moment break at Tamworth - great company.
OUR VIEW OF MURPHY'S PIGS!
Finally Murphy's Pigs came on and by that stage there was the '10 second rule' on seating - if you left your seat for any reason within 10 seconds someone would ask if it was free! The music was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the show, but we did not see much of the boys!

APPARENTLY THIS IS WHAT THE BAND LOOKS LIKE! (INTERNET PHOTO)
Whilst sitting and 'listening' to Murphy's Pigs we were able to see Amber Lawrence being interviewed by the local media - the groupies just h-a-d to take a photo! Onward to the Tudor Hotel where we dined and listened to the upstairs entertainment.
LESLIE AVRIL
Our last stop was at the Tamworth Town Hall to see Melinda Schneider's 'Be Yourself' concert, but not before passing 'Peel House'!

MELINDA SCHNEIDER

Arrived back at the park at midnight feeling somewhat fatigued! Fortunately our next door neighbour Margaret had made sure the poodle's needs had been met, although it must be said that they were not happy at such an extended absence!

TAMWORTH

TUESDAY 20 - WEDNESDAY 21.1.2015: Tuesday was a predetermined day of rest which we spent at Nundle. Visited the Woollen Mill, Gallery and local shops - of course managed to make purchases at each stop. Wednesday we again headed for the 'big smoke'. Music, music and more music - had a great day enjoying Peel Street and the Fan Zone, South Tamworth Bowlo, followed by a visit to Country Heart and Soul Concert (Lyn Bowtell, Felicity Urquhart & Kevin Bennett), at the West Tamworth League Club.

MONDAY 19.1.2015:  Our first "B-I-G" day at the Tamworth Country Music Festival - catching the bus from Nundle into town ($20.00 for the duration of the festival). Don, the Nundle local is still driving the bus - only been driving buses for 60 years! Organised with the park owners Kim and Heath to come down to the motorhome and toilet the dogs and of course turn the air conditioning on if need be! The two hillbillies were sitting on the bus at 8.00am ready for the day's activities. First stop the Tamworth Services Club - Amber Lawrence, Allen Caswell and Roger Corbett.
