SHARK BAY WORLD HERITAGE AREA

SHELL BEACH
MON 28 - TUES 29.10.2013: SHELL BEACH - Masses of shells have been drifting in for about 4,000 years. They are 5 metres deep and are still piling up today. Shell grit has been mined at Shell Beach since the early 1960's. 'Hamelin Coquina' is the name given to loose shell ridges and naturally cemented shell block. Coquina has been an important resource for the Shark Bay community and is a unique feature of the World Heritage Area.
COQUINA SHELLS MAKE UP THE BEACH
On the way to Denham and we passed a lookout opportunity.
Booked into the Blue Dolphin Caravan Park and Holiday Village at Denham and took advantage of their "stay two and get one free, yee-haa" offer.
