SHARK BAY WORLD HERITAGE AREA

WEDNESDAY 30.10.2013: DENHAM (population: 607), began as a pearling settlement called Freshwater camp, and was gazetted as a town in 1898. Today as Shark Bay's commercial centre it offers a range of activities for visitors. The Aboriginal name for Shark Bay is "Gathaagudu" meaning "two bays". The Aboriginal people of the Shark Bay area are descendants of the Malgana tribe and are traditional owners of the Shark Bay area.
EAGLE BLUFF: Ventured out to Eagle Bluff which had been advertised as "one of the best places to view marine life". All the scenery in this area has been stunning, but this was spectacular - the photos really do not do the area justice. The shallow waters are ideal for viewing some of Shark Bay's many marine creatures including rays, sharks, turtles, schools of fish and the occasional dugong. The interpretive walkway informs you of all the different species.

We did see sharks and as this photo was taken on a cliff face with a toy camera it provides an insight into the clearness of the water.
