CRANBROOK - POPULATION: 280

B-I-G- NED KELLY
SATURDAY 7 - SUNDAY 8.12.2013: Our first stop of the day was for supplies at Gnowangerup. Ned Kelly did not make it to Gnowangerup, but his daughter did and at some time in the past was the publican of the local Hotel - a distantly related brush with fame! Travelled through Tambellup and finally came to rest opposite the pub at Cranbrook in an RV Friendly Shire run site which offered a two night stay for $5.00 per day. Cranbrook is  "The Gateway to the Stirlings", referring to the nearby Stirling Range National Park. The settlement grew after it was one of the original railway stations on the Great Southern Railway when the railway opened in 1889, and was gazetted a townsite in 1899.
